Men's tennis cruises to fourth straight victory

READING, PA - The Penn State Berks men's tennis team earned its fourth consecutive victory after topping Bryn Athyn College, 9-0, in the Nittany Lions conference opener on Wednesday afternoon at the Gring's Mill Tennis Courts.

The Nittany Lions win streak has lifted them above .500 in the win-loss column as they now sit at 6-5 overall and 1-0 in the NAC, while Bryn Athyn drops to 0-2 overall and 0-2 in the conference.

All three of the doubles matches were 8-0 victories in favor of Berks. The duo of Will Byler and Ryan Fritz teamed up to win at No. 1 doubles for the third time in their last four matches. Omar Rahmy and Mostafa Rahmy earned their fifth straight doubles victory in the second spot and are now 6-2 as a pairing this year. The No. 3 team of Diego Olazagasti and Dylan Deleon have won four of their last five doubles matches as partners, including each of their last three bouts.

Olazagasti (No. 3), O. Rahmy (No. 4), and Nick Volk (No. 6) all swept their singles matches by a score of 6-0, 6-0. Byler claimed the top singles match by a score of 6-2, 6-1 and Fritz had a 6-1, 6-0 triumph at second singles. M. Rahmy rounded out the lineup with a 6-0, 6-1 victory at fifth singles.

The men's tennis team joined up with the women's team to host their annual Spring Pink Game fundraisers. The two teams combined to raise $68.21 with all proceeds going to the Breast Cancer Support Services of Berks County.

The Nittany Lions return to action with a conference contest at Penn College on Saturday, April 8 at 2 p.m.
