LANCASTER, PA - The Penn State Berks softball team pitched a pair of shutouts, 1-0 and 9-0, to earn a sweep over Lancaster Bible College in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) South Division doubleheader on Saturday afternoon at Charger Field.

The Nittany Lions extended its win streak to 19 straight to improve to 23-7 overall and 17-1 in the NEAC, while the Chargers drop to 9-27 on the year and 5-15 in the conference.

In the opener, the game remained scoreless through the first six innings of play before Berks was able to put up a run in the top of the seventh. Becca Faust had an one-out single to right field and was moved into scoring position on a sacrifice bunt by Kendel Reed. Heather Rissell then came through clutch, delivering a two-out single to left field to score Faust with the lone run of the game.

Jessica Rozick tossed a complete-game, three-hit shutout to pick up the win in the pitcher's circle. The sophomore right-hander struck out eight batters, while issuing no walks. The Chargers had its only runner in scoring position in the first inning, but that player was quickly erased from the base path's when she was tug out on a ground ball to shortstop. Rozick improves to 13-3 on the year with 121 strikeouts and 0.99 ERA in 98.2 innings pitched.

Megan Olsen and Jenna Heffner each finished 1-for-3 to collect the other two hits for Berks in the opener.

The second game started much more favorably for the Nittany Lions as they plated three runners in the top of the first. They tacked on one more in the second, two in the fifth, and capped off the scoring with a three-spot in the top of the seventh.

Ashley Malek led the offense, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and a run scored, while Heffner was 2-for-4 with one run batted in and two runs scored. Faust and Madison Newhouser both recorded two hits and Chelsea Bright scored a team-high three runs. Olsen added an RBI triple in the seventh and later scored on a wild pitch.

Faust earned the win in the pitcher's circle after scattering five hits and striking out one batter in a complete-game, shutout. The sophomore right-hander tossed four 1-2-3 innings and allowed just one runner in scoring position when the Chargers got a runner to second base in the bottom of the sixth with back-to-back singles.
