Men's tennis tops Immaculata, 9-0

READING, PA - After a nine day layoff, the Penn State Berks men's tennis team returned to action with a 9-0 victory over Immaculata University in a non-conference contest on Monday afternoon at the Gring's Mill Tennis Courts.

The Nittany Lions extended their season-high winning streak to six straight to improve to 8-5 overall, while the Mighty Macs drop to 6-5 this season.

Berks jumped out to an early 3-0 lead after cruising in its doubles bouts. Will Byler and Ryan Fritz teamed up for an 8-0 victory at No. 1 doubles, while Omar Rahmy and Mostafa Rahmy picked up an 8-1 win at the second spot. The duo of Diego Olazagasti and Nick Volk finished off the sweep with their 8-2 triumph at third doubles.

Olazagasti picked up a clean 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles, while O. Rahmy (No. 4) and Volk (No. 6) were both 6-1, 6-0 winners in their matches. M. Rahmy earned a 6-0, 6-1 victory at the fifth flight, which earned him his fifth straight singles win. Byler fought to a 6-4 win in the first set and capped off his No. 1 singles bout with a 6-0 win in the second set. Fritz finished off the sweep with a 6-1, 6-2 win at second singles.

The Nittany Lions will host Lancaster Bible College in their final home regular season contest on Wednesday, April 19 at 1 p.m.
