Men's tennis tops Albright, 6-3

READING, PA - The Penn State Berks men's tennis team avenged one of its early season setbacks with a 6-3 victory over Albright College in a non-conference contest on Monday afternoon.

The Nittany Lions (5-5) picked up wins in two of the three doubles matches. The No. 3 duo of Diego Olazagasti and Dylan Deleon cruised to an 8-1 win, while the No. 2 team of Omar Rahmy and Mostafa Rahmy pulled off a 9-7 triumph.

In singles action, the Nittany Lions were edged in the top two spots, but the bottom five of the order came through for Berks. Olazagasti claimed the No. 3 singles bout by a score of 7-5, 6-0, while O. Rahmy won at No. 4 by sets of 6-1, 6-1. Nick Volk (No. 5) won 6-0, 7-6 (7-2) and Deleon (No. 6) was a 6-1, 6-3 winner.

These two teams squared off on September 17 at Berks with Albright pulling out a 5-4 nail biter. Today's win by Berks ended a four-game skid to Albright and made the all-time series 6-5 in Albright's favor.

The Nittany Lions return to action with their NEAC opener against Bryn Athyn College on Wednesday, April 5 at 1 p.m. The men's tennis team will be hosting its Pink Game fundraiser on that day with all proceeds going to the Breast Cancer Support Services of Berks County.
