Daddona reaches 1000 career points in setback to LBC

LANCASTER, PA - Deanna Daddona became just the fifth member in program history to reach the 1,000 career point milestone as the Penn State Berks women's basketball team suffered an 84-70 setback to Lancaster Bible College in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) contest on Saturday afternoon.

Daddona finished the game with 16 points to raise her career total to 1,006 points. The junior guard is the fastest to accomplish the feat, taking her just 51 games. Shanelle Koch (2012-16), who reached the milestone in February of 2015, was the previous record holder for fastest to 1000 career points with 59 games.

The Nittany Lions (2-4, 0-2 NEAC) started out slow again, falling behind 22-12 after the first quarter. They again bounced back in the second period where they outscored the Chargers (3-3, 2-0 NEAC) by a 19-8 margin to take a one-point lead into the halftime intermission. Out of the break, LBC outscored Berks by 10 points in the third quarter and had a 25-20 edge in the fourth to pick up the win.

Kylie Herman led the Nittany Lions with 23 points to go along with eight rebounds, five assists, two steals, and one blocked shot in 38 minutes of play. Daddona went 3-of-5 from beyond the arc to finish with her 16 points. She also had three boards, three steals, and one assist. Sam Brensinger recorded 13 points and a contest-high seven assists, while Melissa Martin had 10 points, three boards, and three steals. Mechiah Brant tallied a season-high eight points and matched her personal best with seven rebounds.

Courtney Goyak finished with a contest-high 28 points and 20 rebounds, followed by Caitlin Hickey (22 points) and Kirsten Webster (21 points).
