Men's tennis drops fall finale to Cabrini

READING, PA - The Penn State Berks men's tennis team dropped its fall season finale, 7-2, to visiting Cabrini University in a non-conference contest on Friday afternoon at Gring's Mill Tennis Courts. (Boxscore)

The Nittany Lions drop to 2-1 on the season, while the Cavaliers improve to 3-0.

Despite a very strong effort in each of the doubles bouts, Berk found themselves trailing 3-0 heading into singles play. The No. 1 doubles team of Mostafa Rahmy and Diego Olazagasti were edged out 8-6 by Alijah Broadnax and CJ LaMantia. The second doubles duo of Will Byler and Grant Batzer were in the tightest match of the afternoon. In a back-and-forth battle, the Cavaliers pair of Nick Falcone and Ben Mead topped Byler and Batzer 9-8 after squeezing out an 8-6 win in the tie-breaker.

In singles action, Jeremy Heist won in straight sets by a score of 6-3, 6-4 at fifth singles. Olazagasti grabbed the other Nittany Lion point with a 6-0, 4-6, 10-2 triumph at the second singles flight. Rahmy gave his opponent everything that he had, but ultimately fell by scores of 7-5, 7-5 at No. 3 singles.

The Nittany Lions wrap up the fall portion of their schedule and will return to action with their annual Spring Break Trip to Orlando, Florida in March.
