Men's tennis shuts out Bryn Athyn, 9-0

READING, PA - The Penn State Berks men's tennis team cruised to its sixth straight victory after downing Bryn Athyn College, 9-0, in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) contest on Wednesday afternoon at Gring's Mill Tennis Courts.

The Nittany Lions improve to 8-5 on the season and 4-0 in the NAC, while Bryn Athyn falls to 3-4 overall and 0-3 in the conference.

Drew Weinhold and Will Byler paired up for an 8-0 win at the top doubles bout, followed by Ryan Fritz and Jerrad Seifrit who also won 9-0 in their second doubles match. Angel Negron and Nick Volk rounded out the doubles sweep with an 8-0 win in the third spot.

In singles action, Weinhold (No. 1) was a 6-1, 6-1 winner and Fritz took care of his match by a score of 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3. Byler (No. 2), Negron (No. 4), Volk (No. 5), and Owen Jones (No. 6) won their respective matches by scores of 6-0, 6-0.

The Nittany Lions host Penn State Abington for the regular season championship on Saturday, April 23 at 1 p.m. Both teams enter the contest tied for first place with a conference record of 4-0. Also on Saturday afternoon, the men's tennis squad will be teaming up with baseball, softball, and women's tennis for the annual Spring Pink Games to benefit the Breast Cancer Support Services of Berks County.
