Men's tennis picks up conference win over LBC

LANCASTER, PA - The Penn State Berks men's tennis team downed Lancaster Bible College, 8-1, in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) contest on Wednesday afternoon at Linden Hall.

The Nittany Lions won its fourth straight match to improve to 6-5 for the season and 3-0 in the NEAC, while the Chargers move to 2-9 overall and 1-2 in the conference.

The No. 1 doubles team of Drew Weinhold and Owen Jones picked up an 8-1 victory, while Ryan Fritz and Jerrad Seifrit were 8-2 winners at the second spot. Berks finished off the doubles sweep with an 8-0 win by Nick Volk and Angel Negron in the third flight.

In singles action, Weinhold earned a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 1 singles, followed by Will Byler  (No. 2) with a 6-1, 6-0 win. Fritz picked up a 6-0, 6-0 win out of the third spot and Volk won 6-2, 6-0 at fifth. Jones rounded out the Berks winners with a 6-0, 6-3 in the sixth singles bout.

The Nittany Lions will travel to Keuka College for a NEAC contest on Sunday, April 17 at 11 a.m.
