Women's basketball falls to Gallaudet in season finale

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Penn State Berks women's basketball team dropped its season finale, 87-61, to Gallaudet University in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) contest on Saturday afternoon.

Shanelle Koch led th offense with 18 points, followed by Cassidy Schultz with 16 as the duo played in their final game for the Nittany Lions. Freshman Deanna Daddona made three 3-pointers and finished the game with 14 points. Schultz and Whitney Allen finished tied for the lead in rebounds with six apiece.

Zamica Gage recorded a game-high 22 points, while Sabina Shysh added 16. Danielle Warren and Kori Koss ach added 10 points.

Koch and Schultz finished off their four-year careers as two of the top players in program history. Koch all-time leader in free throws made (333), blocked shots (112), and minutes per game (38.1), while ranking second in points (1390), scoring average (17.2), field goals made (527), field goal percentage (43.7%), and rebounds (636). Schultz is the career leader for free throw percentage (77.4%), and is ranked third in 3-pointers made (76) and assists (206). She is among the top 10 all-time in points (78.3), scoring average (10.2), field goals made (254), 3-point field goal percentage (30.2%), and rebounds (255).

Daddona finished off her freshman campaign with an 18.8 points per game average, which is the third highest for a season in program history. The freshman guard shattered the single season record for 3-pointers made with 65, surpassing the previous high of 43. Koch was second on the squad with her 16.0 points per game average, followed by Schultz at 12.4. Sophomore Mackenzie Huber knocked down 27 3-pointers this year and finished with a 5.4 scoring average. Freshman Angie Russell averaged 5.5 points and 5.4 rebounds per game, while Dakota Dawson had a 4.5 rebounds per game average. Allen finished the year averaging 2.8 boards per game.

The 2015-16 squad finished the season with four wins and had a scoring average of 63.1 point per game, which was the fourth best in program history. They set the single season school record for 3-pointers made (143), 3-point percentage (33.3%), and free throw percentage (69.0%). In addition, this year's team recorded the single-game school record for points scored with their 105 point effort in a win over Wilson College.
