Women's tennis blanks Rosemont, 9-0

ROSEMONT, PA - The Penn State Berks women's tennis team picked up a shutout over Rosemont College, 9-0, in a non-conference contest on Tuesday afternoon.

The Nittany Lions improves to 2-0 in the early going, matching the best start to a season since the 2007-08 season.

Caroline Bashore and Kianna Anderson teamed up for an 8-2 victory at No. 1 doubles, while Erin Ginther and Laura Youwakim earned an 8-0 shutout in the second bout. The No. 3 duo of Lu Pulcini and Tessa Caltagirone completed the doubles sweep with an 8-0 win.

In singles action, Bashore grabbed the No. 1 match by a score of 6-0, 6-1. Anderson was a 6-3, 6-1 winner at No. 2, while Ginther won the third singles flight by a score of 6-2, 6-0. Youwakim (No. 4) and Pulcini (No. 5) each won by a 6-0, 6-0 margin. Caltagirone earned a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 6.

The Nittany Lions will conclude the fall portion of its season with a non-conference match at Alvernia University on Monday, October 10 at 3:30 p.m.
