Nittany Lions top Wilson in NEAC opener

CHAMBERSBURG, PA (September 16, 2015) - The Penn State Berks women's soccer team spread out its scoring among six players en route to a 9-0 victory over Wilson College in the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) opener on Wednesday afternoon.

The Nittany Lions improved to 3-0-2 overall and 1-0 in the conference, while the Phoenix shift to 1-1-1 on the season and 0-1 in the NEAC.

Paige Clawser tallied the opening goal of the game in the 16th minute and followed up with another in the 17th minute, Lizzie Mummau supplied the assist. Caitlin Golden also added a goal in the 17th minute, it was her first of the season. Keri Klimko assisted on Chrissy Smith's goal in the 38th minute, which gave Berks a 4-0 lead into the halftime intermission.

In the second half, Kaylie Smucker recorded a pair of goals, while Ellie McKinstry added a goal and an assist. Dana Sarcinello and Monica Pinel each found the back of the net in the second half.

Paige Elmy and Becky Webster split time in net to combine on a shutout, with Webster recording a save. Brianna Martin made 28 saves in goal for the Phoenix.

The Nittany Lions will host Wells College in a NEAC contest on Saturday, September 19 at 3 p.m.
