Strong shooting leads Nittany Lions to conference win

READING, PA - The Penn State Berks men's basketball team continued its high scoring offense to pick up a 94-75 win over Penn State Abington in Saturday afternoon's North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) South Division contest at Beaver Community Center.

Berks, who shot 56.1% (37-of-66) from the floor, raised its scoring average to 85.3 points per game this season. Berks led 45-33 at half and jumped out the intermission on a 11-0 run to build a comfortable 23-point cushion. The highlight of that run was back-to-back alley oops from Christian Burggraf to Michael Aldridge that brough the fans to their feet. Abington was able to cut the deficit to 11 points with 10:50 to go, but that is as close as it would get.

Berks had 13 different players score a basket in the winning effort, including three finishing in double figures. Burggraf had a team-high in points (24), rebounds (8), and assists (5). Baba Waples continued his domination on offense with 20 points on 7-of-12 shooting from the floor, while also adding three steals and two assists. Aldridge rounded out the Nittany Lions in double figures with 10 points to go along with six rebounds and four blocked shots. Dameon Nixon recorded nine points, and four assists, while J.C. Keaton came off the bench to chip in seven points and three boards.

Spencer Barton was 6-of-14 from 3-point range to record a team-high 24 points for Abington. Devin Jones added 15 points and 13 rebounds, while Kevin Pacheco added nine points.

The Nittany Lions will host DeSales University in a non-conference contest on Wednesday, December 9 at 7 p.m.
