Women's basketball falls to Keystone in season opener

LA PLUME, PA - The Penn State Berks women's basketball team opened up its 2015-16 campaign with an 83-65 setback on the road to Keystone College in a non-conference contest on Saturday afternoon.

The Nittany Lions (0-1) trailed by just one point after the end of the third quarter, but Keystone used a 26-9 fourth quarter to take control of the game. Berks was hindered by a 57.1 foul shot percentage, while the Giants shot at 71.4 clip from the free throw line.

Deanna Daddona made strong collegiate debut, scoring a team-high 20 points and going 4-for-5 from beyong the arc. The freshman guard also recorded eight rebounds and handed out three assists. Cassidy Schultz and Julie Pietrobono each chipped in 11 points, while Schultz also grabbed eight boards. Sophomore Mackenzie Huber had a team-high and career best 13 rebounds to go along with her nine points and three assists.

Keystone was led by Destinee Hall's 21 points, 10 rebounds, and six steals. Maddy Moro added 12 points and 11 boards for the Giants.

The Nittany Lions will host Goucher College in a non-conference contest on Saturday, November 21 at 1 p.m.
