Burggraf powers Nittany Lions to win

READING, PA (January 18, 2015) - Christian Burggraf had a career-day and the Penn State Berks men's basketball team overcame a late double-digit deficit to pick up an 80-74 victory over Morrisville State College in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) contest on Sunday afternoon at Beaver Community Center.

The Nittany Lions (3-9, 3-3 NEAC) trailed by 10 points with 5:04 remaining in the second half, but an 18-2 run down the stretch helped Berks earn a critical conference win. Overall, the Nittany Lions shot a dismal 51.7% (15-of-29) from the foul line, however in the final two minutes they were 7-for-10 from the charity stripe.

Burggraf, who was 5-for-6 from the foul line in the final minute, poured in a career best 32 on 10-of-19 shooting from the floor. The junior guard drained six 3-pointers, which was a personal-high and tied the single game program record. Burggraf also recorded seven rebounds, two assists, and two steals. He is currently averaging 16.7 points per game this season, which is the third highest in Berks history.

Baba Waples chipped in 13 points, four assists, and three steals, while Dameon Nixon and Nygel Belizaire each added 10 points. Belizaire had six rebounds, two blocked shots, and a career-high four assists. Michael Aldridge added nine points and six rebounds and provided solid defense off the bench with two blocked shots.

The Mustangs were led on offense by Ibrahima Toure with 25 points. Mike Russo converted on 11 of his 12 trips to the foul line finished with 16 points. Joel Hulbert had 12 points, followed by Trent Ward with 11.

The Nittany Lions will travel to Keuka College for a NEAC contest on Saturday, January 24 at 3 p.m.
