Women's volleyball falls on the road to Wilkes



WILKES-BARRE, PA (September 3, 2014) - The Penn State Berks women's volleyball team suffered a 3-1 setback to Wilkes University in a non-conference contest on Wednesday evening in the Marts Center.

The Nittany Lions pulled out a 25-23 win in the first game, but Wilkes then swept the next three by scores of 25-19, 25-20, 25-21 to pick up the victory.

Cassidy Schultz had a solid all around performance, recording a contest-high 15 kills and adding 15 digs. Sophia Zhang chipped in 12 kills and three service aces, while Maria Pavone had six kills. Jordan Heath dished out 37 assists and finished with a team-high 17 digs. Freshman libero Megan DeAbreu chipped in 12 digs.

The Colonels were led by Ally Paskas with 13 kills and 10 digs. Erin Northsetin and Marissa Mallory combined for 36 digs and six service aces.

The Nittany Lions will return to action with a non-conference contest at Immaculata University on Tuesday, September 9 at 7 p.m.
