Men's and women's tennis host Pink Games against Abington

READING, PA (April 5, 2014) - The Penn State Berks men's and women's tennis teams hosted Penn State Abington in their North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) openers and a Pink Games fundraiser on Saturday afternoon at Gring's Mill Tennis Courts. (Men's Boxscore) (Women's Boxscore)

The tennis teams will join baseball and softball for a spring season Pink Games fundraiser. All donations collected will benefit the Breast Cancer Support Services of Berks County, which is a non-profit organization that provides hope, information, and emotional support to women diagnosed with breast cancer and those who care for and about them.

The men's squad suffered a 7-2 setback, while the women dropped a 6-3 decision.

Drew Weinhold and Ryan Fritz grabbed an 8-2 victory at No. 1 singles. Weinhold followed that up with a 6-3, 6-3 win out of the top singles flight. On the women's side, Crystal Hitz and Nandita Munindra grabbed an 8-5 win at the top doubles spot. Hitz then won her No. 1 singles contest by a 6-2, 6-3 count. Florence Kurtz also picked up a 6-4, 6-3 win at fifth singles.

The men's team will host Rutgers-Camden in a NEAC contest on Sunday, April 6 at 10 a.m. and the women' will travel to Lancaster Bible College on Tuesday, April 8 for a 3 p.m. start time.
