Nittany Lions stay hot with sweep of Wilson



CHAMBERSBURG, PA (April 13, 2014) - The Penn State Berks softball team continued its perfect run through North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) South Division play with wins of 7-2 and 13-2 over Wilson College on Sunday afternoon.

The Nittany Lions (17-5, 10-0 NEAC South) are currently first in the conference standings, followed by Penn State Abington (8-0 NEAC South). Based on the conference standings the Nittany Lions will at least clinch a spot in the post season with a loss by Lancaster Bible College.

In the opening game, Colleen Hoge went 3-for-4 with two RBI, two doubles, and two runs scored, while Casey Hafer was 2-for-4 with two runs batted in, and two runs scored. Missy Lamm also added two hits, while adding two RBI and a run scored.

Hafer earned her ninth win of the season after tossing all seven innings and striking out four batters. The Phoenix managed two score two runs, but only one run was earned.

In the second game, Lamm was 4-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored, while Julia Moscato was 3-for-5 with three RBI. Megan Olsen went 3-for-4, while Jenna Heffner had two hits and scored two runs.

Olsen pitched a complete game with two earned runs and five strikeouts on her way to her fourth victory.

The Nittany Lions will travel to Lancaster Bible College for a NEAC doubleheader on Wednesday, April 16 at 3 p.m.
