Women's volleyball has win streak halted by Scranton



READING, PA (October 21, 2014) - The Penn State Berks women's volleyball suffered a rare home match defeat after the University of Scranton pulled out three tight matches in a non-conference contest on Tuesday afternoon in Beaver Community Center.

The Nittany Lions (17-9) lost for just the second time all season in home matches, the first being the season-opening 3-2 setback to Elizabethtown College, after falling by game scores of 26-28, 22-25, 20-25. They finished the season 7-2 in home games with the rest of their games and playoffs will all be played on the road.

Sophia Zhang, Cassidy Schultz, and Jenny Von Holt each finished with five kills. Heleanna Davison added four kills, three solo blocks, and one block assist. Jordan Heath handed had 21 assists and 11 digs, while Megan DeAbreu had a team-high 18 digs.

Prior to the start of the contest, Maria Pavone and Jennifer Nawa were honored with Senior Day Festivities. Pavone is a four-year member that ranks among the top all-time in most offensive categories and Nawa has been part of the program for three years.

The regular-season will conclude on Monday, October 27 at Delaware Valley College beginning at 7 p.m.
