Nittany Lions roll in win over Moravian

READING, PA (October 15, 2014) - The Penn State Berks women's volleyball downed Moravian College, 3-0, to win against the non-conference opponent for the first time in program history on Wednesday evening's contest in Beaver Community Center.

The Nittany Lions outlasted Moravian 25-22 in the opening game and then cruised to wins of 25-11 and 25-14 in the ensuing games. The win moves Berks to 14-8 overall, while the Greyhounds fall to 12-16 on the season.

Sophia Zhang had a contest-high 14 kills and finished with a .407 hitting percentage, while Maria Pavone continued her high-level of play with nine kills and a career-best six solo blocks. Jenny Von Holt recorded seven kills.

Jordan Heath handed out 35 assists to raise her season total to 773. Megan DeAbreu had 15 digs, followed by Cassidy Schultz with 11.

The Nittany Lions will wrap up conference action when they host a two-day crossover this weekend. On Saturday, October 18 they will host Cazenovia College (2 p.m.) and Keuka College (6 p.m.). Berks will then host SUNY Cobleskill on Sunday at 12 p.m.
