Nittany Lions edged out, 2-1, at Immaculata

IMMACULATA, PA (September 24, 2013) - The Penn State Berks men's soccer team dropped a hard fought battle with Immaculata University, 2-1, in a non-conference contest on Tuesday afternoon at Draper Walsh Stadium. (Boxscore)

In an evenly matched battle, neither team surrendered a goal over the final 71 minutes of the contest. The Mighty Macs outshot Berks by a 19-10 margin and held a 6-5 advantage in corner kicks.

Tyler Budgick put Immaculata on the board with a goal just one minute, 51 seconds into the contest. Connor Mastricola evened the match at 1-all with an unassisted goal in the 13th minute. T.J. Jappah provided the winning margin with a score at the 18:42 mark of the first half.

The Mighty Macs had several scoring opportunities, but Darrell Geisinger finished with eight saves. Berks also had a few chances to tie the match, but William Hegarty made four stops in net.

The Nittany Lions will face SUNYIT on Saturday at 1 p.m., followed by SUNY Cobleskill on Sunday at noon.
