Men's soccer falls to Albright College in season opener

READING, PA (August 31, 2013) - The Penn State Berks men's soccer team dropped its season opener, 6-1, to Albright College on Saturday afternoon at Shirk Stadium. (Boxscore)

The Nittany Lions fell behind after Albright scored just 3:36 into the contest, but less than 30 second later Isaiah Danner nearly evened the match. The freshman forward dribbled around two defenders and was in on a breakaway before a rough tackle by the goalkeeper drew a yellow card. Berks, however, was unable to convert the free kick into a goal.

Michael Peguero, who normally plays in the midfield, was called on for a spot start in goal for Berks. He finished the contest with seven saves, which included three diving stops. Jose Ceballo shifted from midfield to defense in the second half and was able to stop several offensive attacks by Albright.

The Nittany Lions will return to action on Monday, September 9 with a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) contest at Lancaster Bible College. The contest is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
