WASHINGTON, D.C. (April 14, 2013) - The Penn State Berks softball team continued on its winning ways with a sweep of Gallaudet University by scores of 6-0 and 12-4 in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) South Division doubleheader on Sunday afternoon.

The Nittany Lions improved to 22-2 overall and 10-0 in the NEAC South Division. Berks is currently two games ahead of Wilson College for first place in the division with 10 divisional contests remaining. The Bison dropped to 11-19 overall and 1-9 in the conference.

Jess Epler and Casey Hafer each combined to go 5-for-7 in the doubleheader. Epler drove in three runs and scored one run, while Hafer recorded two RBI and scored a run. The duo split the pitching duties and each earned a win in the pitcher's circle.

Epler tossed a complete-game, three hit shutout in the opener to pick up her 17th win. She fanned five batters and did not allow any runners to get into scoring position. Hafer also went the distance, allowing four runs – three earned – on seven hits. She struck out five batters on the way to picking up her fifth win.

Marissa Gonzales was 3-for-3 with two doubles and a run scored in the first game. In the second game, Missy Lamm, Colleen Hoge, Epler, Hafer, and Kaylie Vrabel all registered two hits. Lamm and Hoge each scored three times. Vrabel drove in two runs with a triple in the top of the sixth inning. Marissa Ruggiero finished with a game-high three runs batted in.
