Women's basketball downed by Gallaudet in season finale



WASHINGTON, D.C. (February 16, 2013) - The 2012-13 women's basketball season came to a close on Saturday afternoon as Penn State Berks fell by a score of 69-50 on the road to Gallaudet University. (Boxscore)

Berks, who trailed 29-19 at halftime, was able to pull to within four points early in the second half and were within seven points with 11:21 to play. But the Bison went on an 18-5 run to take control on the contest.

Shanelle Koch finished with a team-high 19 points to close out the season with double digit scoring in the final 11 contests. She recorded 251 points and had a scoring average of 16.7 per game. In today's game, Koch also recorded nine rebounds, three assists, and two blocked shots while playing in all 40 minutes of the contest.

Nichole Young-Trapp registered her eighth double-double of the season after recording 12 points and 12 boards. The freshman forward picked up nine of her rebounds on the offensive end of the court. Fatima Rone finished out her Nittany Lion career with eight points and four rebounds.

The Nittany Lions finish the season with an overall record of 9-15 and finished fourth in the South Division with their 8-10 record. The Bison picked up wins in the final two games to finish with an overall record of 7-18 and 5-13 in the conference.
