Women's volleyball sweeps Cazenovia



MORRISTOWN, N.J. (October 18, 2013) - The Penn State Berks women's volleyball team snapped a three-match losing streak with a 3-0 shutout over Cazenovia College at the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) crossover hosted by the College of Saint Elizabeth on Friday afternoon. (Boxscore)

The Nittany Lions earned the win by game scores of 25-16, 25-8, 25-11 to improve to 11-10 overall and 6-2 in the conference, while the Wildcats fall to 6-13 on the season and 1-7 in the NEAC. Berks finished with a season-best .373 hitting percentage after registering 34 kills and committing only nine errors.

Sophia Zhang recorded a contest-high 15 kills and just one error on 26 attempts for a .538 percentage, which is the fifth best in a match in school-history. Maria Pavone followed with seven kills and Heleanna Davison chipped in five. Jordan Heath dished out 30 assists and Morgan Buterbaugh had 18 digs, both were game-highs for their respective category.

As a team, the Nittany Lions combined for season-best 10 service aces led by Sarah Winton with three. Cassidy Schultz, COLBY JONES, and Davison each recorded two aces. Davison combined for four blocks (2 solo, 2 assist) and Schultz assisted on two blocks.

The Nittany Lions will continue NEAC tomorrow against Keuka College (9 a.m.) and SUNY Cobleskill 3 p.m.
