Women's soccer earns fifth shutout of the season

READING, PA (September 29, 2012) - The Penn State Berks women's soccer team defeated the College of Saint Elizabeth, 2-0, in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) showdown on Saturday afternoon. (Boxscore)

The Nittany Lions (8-2, 7-0 NEAC) continued their best start in program-history and set the school record with an eighth consecutive victory. Berks shutout the opposition for the fifth time this season and fourth time in five contests.

Freshman defender Emily Rumpf recorded her first goal of the season in the 13th minute with a perfectly placed chip shot over the keepers head. Katie Warner provided the assist when she headed the ball to an open Rumpf at the edge of the 18-yard marker.

Sara Conover, who tallied both goals in a thrilling 2-1 win over Alvernia last Tuesday, continued her scoring spree with a second half goal. Meaghan Daly crossed a pass in front of hte keeper and Conover took two dribbles to easily notch her 12th goal of the season. Conover leads the NEAC and ranks among the top in all of Division III for goals (12) and points (25).

Savannah Cramer finished the contest with three saves and now sports a 0.75 goals against average.

The Nittany Lions begin the first of four road matches with a non-conference contest at Moravian College on Wednesday, October 3 at 4 p.m.
