Men's soccer fall to Harrisburg in season finale

MIDDLETOWN, PA (October 27, 2012) – The Penn State Berks men's soccer team concluded the 2012 season with a 6-2 loss on the road to Penn State Harrisburg in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) contest on Saturday afternoon. (Boxscore)

Derek Dellalba got the Nittany Lions on the scoreboard with a goal in the 72nd minute. Michael Rykaczewski provided the assist on Dellalba's team-leading seventh goal of the season. Minutes earlier in the contest, Dellalba headed a cross by Justin Bass into the back of the net, but the score was called off due to an offside penalty.

Bass scored at the 82:29 mark after knocking a loose ball through the left side of the net. The goal was setup by Erik Mertz and Andrew Fair who were inches away from scoring. Mertz's shot deflected off the post and Fair's header was deflected away by the keeper, but Bass finished off the play with his fifth goal of the season.

It was the final match for senior trio Mertz, Fair, and Larnelle Larose, who were four-year members of the men's soccer team.

Sophomore keeper John Murphy made nine saves and compiled a total of 112 for the season. That save total is the third most for a season in program history.

The Nittany Lions finished the 2012 season with a 3-14-1 overall record.
