CAZENOVIA, PA (September 18, 2011) – The Penn State Berks women's volleyball team cruised to a 3-0 win over SUNY Cobleskill on Sunday morning to sweep its three North Eastern Athletic Conference contests this weekend.
The Nittany Lions (6-1, 3-0 NEAC) controlled all three of the games against SUNY Cobleskill, winning by scores of 25-11, 25-13, 25-15. The only blemish the past two days was a 27-25 loss to Keuka in the second game, the rest of the weekend belonged to the Nittany Lions.
Berks racked up 10 service aces and the defensive had 55 digs against the Fighting Tigers. VICTORIA YOUNG had a game-high 13 digs, while KAITLYN SCHMECK had 10.
Amy Shelton had 11 kills and two of the three solo blocks for Berks. RACHEL SWEENEY had seven kills and committed just one attack error. MARIA PAVONE chipped in five kills.
Schmeck turned in one of her finest all-around performances this season. Along with her 10 digs, Schmeck had 27 assists, four kills and two service aces.
Cobleskill was led by Kady Porterfield's 7 kills, while Kim Cordova notched 12 digs.
Berks will travel to the University of Scranton on Tuesday, September 20 at 7 p.m.
