Nittany Lions finish 2-2 at Crusader Classic

SELINSGROVE, PA (October 8, 2011) - The Penn State Berks women's volleyball team split its matches on the final day of the Hampton Inn Crusader Classic on Saturday, to finish 2-2 at the two-day event.

Berks fell to host Susquehanna University in the opener (25-17, 25-18, 25-13) and knocked off King's College in the finale by scores of 25-10, 25-14, 25-13.

In the two matches, Amy Shelton combined for 16 kills, two aces and six solo blocks. The sophomore middle blocker was named to the All-Tournament team. Maria Pavone finished the day with 10 kills, including a team-best six against the Crusaders in the opener.

In the win over King's, Kate Shimandle recorded a personal-high seven kills without committing an error. She had 14 attempts to finish with a .500 hitting percentage. Kayla Mosser chipped in six kills and two solo blocks. Katie Sostak had 14 digs, finishing one away from her season-high.

The Nittany Lions will enjoy an eight day rest before returning to action on Sunday, October 16 for their final two NEAC contests.
