BoxscoreReading, PA (September 1, 2010) - The Penn State Berks women's volleyball team downed Albright College 3-0 in the 2010 season opener on Wednesday evening. Sophomore Suzi Shelton and her sister Amy Shelton combined for 30 kills on the night. Berks took the opener 25-18, followed by a 25-7 performance. The tighest game of the night came in the closing match, as the Nittany Lions won 25-22.
SUZI SHELTON finished with a game-high 17 kills and five solo blocks. She also added two service aces. AMY SHELTON began her college career on a strong note. The 6'1" freshman had 12 kills and a team-best three aces. GLENDA NGO had 22 assists and led the team with 15 digs, while KATIE SOSTAK was right behind with 14 digs.
In total, the team collected 43 kills, while committing only nine errors. In the impressive second game performance, the Lions had 14 kills to only one error.
Albright was led by Christie Mantz and Alyssa Hoogendoorn, who each had five kills.
The Lions will be back in action on Thursday, September 9 at 7 p.m. when they host Rosemont.
