READING, PA (October 4, 2010) - The Penn State men's soccer team received goals four different players to down Valley Forge Christian College, 6-1, in Monday's nonconference contest.
In the first, the Nittany Lions (2-8-1) scored five goals, while slipping and sliding around the muddy, rain soaked field. ZACHARY ALESI scored the first of his two goals just five minutes, 45 seconds into the match. JASON STONER had the first of his three assists on the early score.
Logan Langseth had back-to-back goals to put Berks in complete control of the contest. He notched his first score after sending a rebound past the keeper into the top right corner of the net. For his next strike, BRYAN FELLIN inserted a corner kick and Stoner headed the ball over to Langseth, who then headed the ball over the keepers outstretched arms.
Ndayishimiye Abdul provided assists on CASEY CORREA and AARON EBLING goals in the first half. It was the first goal of the season for Ebling and the first two points for Abdul.
Jonathan Jablonka picked up his second win of the season in goal for the Nittany Lions. The freshman keeper made four saves and was three minutes away from his first collegiate shutout.
The Patriots (2-8) picked up their lone goal of the game in the 87th minute, when Kyle Shirvani ripped a shot into the top left corner.
Berks had a steady attack on offense, outshooting Valley Forge 28-8. The Lions also held the advantage in corner, by a count of 5-2.
The men will travel to Morrisville State on Saturday, October 9 for a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) showdown at 1 p.m.
