Berk's volleyball splits dual at Wilkes

WILKES, PA (October 23, 2010) - The Penn State Berks women's volleyball team beat host Wilkes University, before falling to King's College on Saturday afternoon.

In the opener, Wilkes took the first set 25-16, but Berks won the next three to (25-22, 25-19, 25-10) to earn its 22nd victory of the season. The Nittany Lions battled against King's with game scores of 20-25, 23-25, 25-21, 23-25.

AMY SHELTON compiled 31 kills in the two matches, including a 18 kill effort against King's. She also had five solo blocks. In the win over Wilkes, SUZI SHELTON and JERICA DETSCH each recorded nine kills. Detsch had a team-high four aces and was tied with GLENDA NGO for the team lead in digs with 17.

Detsch again had nine kills versus King's and a team-best 27 digs. Ngo followed with 25 digs and handed out 66 digs on the day.

The Nittany Lions collected 14 aces and seven blocks in the two matches.

Berks will host its home finale Susquehanna University at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, October 27th.
