IMMACULATA, PA (October 12, 2010) - The Penn State Berks women's tennis team concluded the fall portion of its schedule with a dominant 9-0 victory over Immaculata University on Tuesday afternoon.
The Nittany Lions sport a 3-4 record, including back-to-back wins to finish the first half of the season.
Crystal Hitz and Amanda Fuller took care of business in the first doubles spot, winning by a score of 8-1. At second doubles, Samantha Warga and Aimee Hoffman had an 8-0 shutout, as did the duo of Rebecca Loewenstein-Harting and Liz Martinez (third doubles).
All of the singles matches were finished in two sets. Loewenstein-Harting and Melissa Boyer had the closest matches at fourth and sixth singles, respectively. Loewenstein-Harting won 7-5, 6-1 and Boyer had scores of 6-2 and 7-5.
Hitz notched a win in the No. 1 singles spot (6-0, 6-1) and Hoffman won at second slot (6-2, 6-3). Fuller had a 6-3, 6-3 victory (No. 3) and Warga picked up a 6-4, 6-1 win at the fifth flight.
The women will start the spring season with a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) contest against the College of St. Elizabeth on April, 2 at 1 p.m.
