Berks Takes Down Chargers

Lancaster, Pa- The Penn State Berks men's tennis team earned a key conference victory, downing Lancaster Bible College 6-1 in their matchup on Wednesday, March 25. The women's tennis team was unable to pick the win in their matchup with Chargers, falling 6-1.

The men's team earned their first team point of the day by sweeping all three doubles matches. Talan Nguyen and Jazae Maina-Itegi teamed to roll to a 6-2 victory in the #1 doubles match. The duo of Donovan Sullivan and Joseph Martin dominated the #2 doubles match, winning 6-1. Finally, the pairing of Caleb Corjuc and Evan Imshweiler earned the #3 doubles victory, defeating their opponents 6-4.

 The Nittany Lions continued their momentum from the doubles matches in singles play, with Nguyen and Sullivan rolling to victories in the top two singles victories. Maina-Itegi and Corjuc put on the most dominant performances of the day in the #3 and #5 singles match, powering to a 6-0, 6-0 victories.  Martin picked up Berks final team point, winning the #4 singles match.

On the women's side, the Blue & White was unable to capture the doubles team point; however, the newly formed duo of Devon Deery and Zoe Macknicki earned a 6-3 victory in the #3 doubles match.

The Nittany Lions did not have any better luck in singles competition, dropping the #1 and #2 singles matches. Lannie Beck won the opening set of #3 singles match but could not hold on for the win. Deery captured Berks' lone team point, winning the #6 singles match 6-4, 6-1.
