Reading, PA – The Penn State Berks Men's Tennis Team overcame being shorthanded to pick-up a 5-2 United East victory over Penn College on Saturday, March 29.
Down a player, the Lions knew they had to win the other two doubles matches to secure a key team point. The team of
Muhammad Esmat and
Jazae Maina-Itegi battled in the #1 doubles match, winning the match with a 10-8 victory in the tiebreaker.
Talan Nguyen and
Joseph Martin clinched the team point, powering to a 6-1 victory in the #2 doubles match-up.
The Lions looked to keep their momentum going in singles play, with Esmat earning a hard-fought victory in the #1 singles match. Nguyen, Maina-Itegi and Martin rolled to convincing wins in their singles matches, securing the victory for the Lions.
