Abington, Pa- The Penn State Berk men's tennis team were edged out by Penn St. Abington falling by a score of 5-4 on Saturday, Apr. 13.
Berks jumped out to an early lead in the match, winning two of three doubles matches. The team of Muhammad Esmat and Jazae Maina-Itegi won the #1 doubles match by a score of 8-5. The Lions also won the #2 doubles match, with the team of Weston Weaver and Donovan Sullivan picking up the 8-5 victory.
The Lions were not as successful in double play, but Sullivan earned a 7-5, 6-1 victory in the #3 singles match. Weaver also picked up a singles victory, outlasting his opponent in a thrilling 7-5, 4-6, 11-9 victory. Abington captured the other four singles matches, rallying for the 5-4 victory.
The Lions will have a quick turnaround, traveling to face Penn College on Sunday, Apr. 14. The match is scheduled for 1:00 PM.
