Men's tennis edged by Lancaster Bible, 5-4

READING, PA - The Penn State Berks men's tennis team suffered a heartbreaking 5-4 setback to Lancaster Bible College in the season opener on Tuesday afternoon at Gring's Mill Tennis Courts.

The Nittany Lions, returned in action for the first time in 550 days, fell behind 2-1 after doubles play. The No. 2 duo of Curtis Uhle and Collin Hall turned in a strong performance with an 8-1 triumph. Nicholas Weber and Nick Ohline battled at the No. 1 spot, but topped 8-4 by Devon Clemmer and Tyler Norris.

In singles action, Berks won each of the top three spots in the lineup to make the match interesting. Unfortunately for Berks, the Chargers were able to earn the win in the four through six spots. Weber won 6-2, 6-2 at No. 1 singles and Uhle followed with a 6-1, 6-2 victory at the second spot. Hall dropped the opening set 6-3, but responded with a thrilling 6-4 win in the second set. Hall then finished the comeback with a 10-7 victory in the third set tiebreaker.

Berks will travel to Penn State Abington for a NEAC contest on Tuesday, April 13 at 1 p.m.
