Women's tennis falls to Abington in NEAC Tournament

ABINGTON, PA - The Penn State Berks women's tennis team had its 2021 season come to an end with a 7-0 setback to Penn State Abington in the opening round of the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Tournament on Monday afternoon.

Blair Eckel and Morgan Reightneour put up a fight at No. 1 doubles, but were edged 8-3 by Carly Martinson and Michelle Ly. The No. 2 doubles team of Meredith Hill and Madison Hetrick were topped, 8-3, by Anna Kalinovskaia and Krystal Maldonado.

In singles action, Eckel fell by a score of 7-5, 6-1 at the No. 1 spot. Reightneour (No. 2) dropped her match 6-1, 6-4 and Hill was topped 6-1, 6-3 at three. Hetrick fell 6--0 in her first set and was edged 7-5 in the second.

The Nittany Lions will await the announcement of which players have earned All-NEAC honors, as voted on by the coaches.
