READING, PA - The Penn State Berks men's tennis teams suffered a 7-2 setback to Alvernia University in a non-conference contest at the Gring's Mill Tennis Courts on Tuesday afternoon.

The Nittany Lions drop to 1-1 on the season, while the Golden Wolves now sit at 4-0 overall.

Alvernia looked like it was well on its way to a sweep of all three doubles bouts, but the No. 1 duo of Diego Olazagasti and Curtis Uhle were able to deny it. Olazagasti and Uhle trailed 4-1 in the match, before reeling off four straight wins to gain a 5-4 lead. Michael Brophy and Jimmy Souder then went a run of their own to build a 7-5 advantage. The top tandem for Berks then went on another four-game win streak to claim the victory 9-7.

In singles action, Uhle recorded the lone point for the Nittany Lions with his 6-1, 6-1 triumph at the No. 2 spot. Jeremy Heist and Sneh Patel each put up a strong fight, but were edged in their super-tiebreakers.

The Nittany Lions will wrap up the fall portion of their season with a non-conference match at Cabrini University on Friday, October 12 at 3:30 p.m.
