Softball sweeps Lancaster Bible on Senior Day

READING, PA (April 25, 2015) - The Penn State Berks softball team swept Lancaster Bible College, 9-3 and 11-1, in the NEAC South Division regular season finale on Saturday afternoon at Hintz Athletic Field.

Prior to the game, Casey Hafer and Kaylie Vrabel were honored with Senior Day Festivities that highlighted their illustrious four-year careers as members of the program. The duo rank among the top all-time in a number of career statistical categories. Click here to find where they rank in each category.

In the opener, the Nittany Lions (16-10, 15-5 NEAC South) led 2-1 through four innings, but they were able to pull away with seven runs over the next two innings. Hafer threw a complete-game, allowing three unearned runs and striking out five batters.

Hafer, Ashley Malek, and Rhianna Roulston each drove in two runs. Missy Lamm scored three runs, followed by Jenna Heffner and Hafer with two each.

In the second game, Berks opened up the scoring with seven runs in the bottom of the second and three in the third. Julia Moscato was 3-for-3 with three runs scored, while Lamm and Heffner each added two hits and two RBI. Hafer and Roulston each recorded two hits and two runs scored, while Megan Olsen went 2-for-3.

Olsen picked up the win in the pitcher's circle with three hits allowed, one unearned run and three strikeouts.

The Nittany Lions will close out the regular season with a non-conference contest at home against Alvernia University on Tuesday, April 28 at 3:30 p.m.
