MIDDLETOWN, PA (April 6, 2011) - The Penn State Berks softball team's five game winning streak came to a halt after getting swept by Penn State Harrisburg in Wednesday afternoon's North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) doubleheader.
Berks (10-13, 7-5 NEAC South) fell 4-3 in the first game and was shutout 10-0 in five innings in the nightcap.
In the opener, Berks scored one run in the first and third innings and Harrisburg (10-10, 7-1 NEAC South) countered with a run of their own in both. Berks added one more in the fifth and held a 3-2, but Harrisburg put across two in their last at-bats for the victory.
Larissa Tenley suffered the setback in the pitcher's circle. She scattered six hits, while allowing four runs - two earned - and struck out eight batters.
Dayna Harrison went 2-for-3 with a double and two runs batted in. Marissa Ruggiero doubled and scored a run.
In the second game, Berks was shut out for just the second time this season. Casey Hafer had a double, while Harrison, Brittany Hicks and Shari Lynn Kluth each had singles.
The Nittany Lions will host Gallaudet on Saturday, April 9 beginning at 1 p.m.
