From April 5-11, Penn State Berks will join schools across the country and participate in DIII Week. Each day we will cover a different topic, today we will cover transfer students. One of the most recent transfers to grace Berks with his presence is Nate Trovinger of the baseball team.
Trovinger has been a welcome addition to the Nittany Lions family. The sophomore outfielder is a leader on and off the field. His dedication to the game and the pride that he takes in his craft is apparent with how he carries himself at practice and on gameday. Trovinger transferred to Berks last year from Lock Haven University, but his spring was cut short by the global pandemic. With the season underway, Trovinger and his teammates are excited to be back on the field, playing the game they love most.
In the early going this season, Trovinger has recorded three hits, including a pair of doubles, in 13 at-bats. He has knocked in two RBI and scored once, while also recording a pair of walks. Trovinger's finest play of the young season came this past Friday when he laid out for a ball while on a full out sprint. He made the catch to get the Nittany Lions the final out of the inning to escape a bases load jam.
Below is a the full Q&A with Nate Trovinger. Please follow @psuberksathletics5 on Instagram to see his takeover.

For me being a student athlete has really prepared me for the future. Being a student athlete takes great time management skills, dedication, and being a leader, and I hope to take all of those attributes with me into the next phase of my life.
Reason you chose Penn State Berks to further your schooling?
I chose Penn State Berks because of the vast alumni support system that comes along with any Penn State school. Penn State Berks was also a the place where I could receive a great education while staying close to my family.
Why did you transfer to Penn State Berks to continue your baseball career?
My first experience I had with the Penn State Berks baseball team was when I was in high school. The importance of family and working as a team really stood out to me. I think that's a staple in this program and almost who we can identify as, and that was something I wanted to be a part of.
You have only been at Berks for a little bit, what are your fondest memories so far?
My fondest memories so far at Berks definitely take place with my teammates, the comradery that we share on and off the field is something that I am grateful to be a part of.
What is your fondest baseball related memory while at Berks?
My fondest baseball memory at Berks definitely took place this year when we all came back from having our season ended last year due to COVID. The energy in the gym and the anticipation for the new season was something I missed after being away from baseball for a whole year.
What is your personal goals for this season? What goals do you have for the team this season?
My personal goal for this year is to bring the best out of each and everyone of my teammates. My personal goal also ties into what I think our team goal is for this year. The team and I as a whole want to take all our games one at a time, enjoy the moment, and truly play each game like it's the last time we're walking out on to that field.
